John Ostrowdun is a Horticulturist and all-round Plantsman who completed his training at Olds College. He has been working in the horticultural industry since 2001 and is currently the Green Goods Manager at greengate Garden Centre.

In 2014, he was awarded the distinction of Top Ten Horticulturist Under 40 by Greenhouse Canada.

John’s love of horticulture, which he attributes to his grandmother’s influence, extends back to his childhood. His passion for plants is broad and vast, from annuals to orchids, but extends to the truly weird and unusual. He always feels that ‘bigger is better’ when it comes to plants.

John shares his gardening expertise as a guest lecturer for the Calgary Horticultural Society, the Master Gardeners Association of Alberta, the Calgary Zoo, and many local garden clubs around the region. He also can be seen on many Calgary television stations.
