Kath Symth
Kath Smyth is a Horticulturist of many decades, and comes from a long line of Alberta gardeners. She has her Degree in Horticulture from the University of Guelph and has worked in the industry in many fields from retail from research; and domestically and internationally.
Lately Kath has been working with the Calgary Horticultural Society as their resident Horticulturist; extensively with the Yardsmart educational series partnering with the City of Calgary.
She brings a wealth of knowledge and her unique humour to radio and television appearances, public presentations and client consultations. Plus is a regular on CBC radio - Eyeopener and Alberta at noon and appears regularly on Global Morning, Calgary.
Kath has extensive experience in conducting workshops for adults in a wide ranging variety of topics and until recently worked with the Continuing Education Department of the U of C, where her Landscaping Design course was hugely in demand. Lately Kath is working with Junior High students. Kath regularly gives talks through Alberta for various garden clubs and horticultural societies, as well as at Teachers Convention and the Retired Teachers convention.
Kath has been supporting Master Gardener education for years, giving sessions on Vegetables, Irrigation and other topics.
She is also a huge supporter of the Master Gardener ethos of giving back to the community of her knowledge and experience, with her many contributions to the community over the years.
Kath never seems to know when to stop and we hope she never does!
